Ms. Sherene Hymison has been a part of the Gesu community since 2011, when she enrolled her son in Gesu School’s pre-kindergarten. At the time she was employed with the state of Michigan as an Eligibility Specialist with DHS. After volunteering at Gesu, she became the school’s Administrative Assistant in 2014. Ms. Hymison felt that Gesu was her village while raising her son while he was in elementary school at Gesu.

Being at Gesu is an honor for her as she has been involved with Catholic schools since she was in grade school, when she graduated from St. Cecilia, and in high school when she graduated from St. Martin de Porres. Ms. Hymison attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana for undergraduate studies and received a Master’s in Business from the University of Phoenix. She is a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Detroit where she has been a member of the Chorale Ensemble for over twenty-five years. She has very strong roots in the Catholic faith and has served as Gesu Parish’s administrative assistant since 2023.

In her leisure time, she enjoys all genres of music and loves to tour local Detroit museums. She loves to travel when possible and to experience different cultures; she has visited several different countries and her plans are to visit all fifty states along with other countries she has not yet experienced.
